Roadburn presents: TANK86

TANK86 at Roadburn 2012

We are very honoured (and very f*ckin' psyched) to announce we'll be playing a showcase at the 2012 Roadburn festival on Saturday April 14th.

We'll use this very fitting occasion to finally release "Rise" on vinyl as well!

Check out the official Roadburn statement and flyer:

Roadburn Festival Introduces: TANK86

We are very excited to announce the third installment of Roadburn Festival Introduces. The idea is to show promising Dutch bands that combine their own vibe with a distinctive Roadburn flair, whether that means a psychedelic slant, having roots in the heavy 70s or an unstoppable need to churn out instru-metal.

This year, we will offer TANK86 the opportunity to connect with the international Roadburn community during an intimate show at the Cul de Sac on Saturday April 14th. Doors open 1pm and the show starts at 2pm.

TANK86 have been honing their instrumental take on stoner, epic doom, sludge, old-school headbanging heavy metal and even progressive metal since 2004. Their hard work has come to fruition on their highly acclaimed full-length album Rise, and we feel the band has something unique and interesting to offer Roadburners.

Initially, TANK86 may have prompted comparisons to Karma To Burn's brand of bone-charring riffs and heavy, groove-based approach, but over the years the band's instru-metal has matured in the rehearsal space and live on stage (including a European tour with Dozer) into something special and genre-defying.

Live, TANK86 are just as dynamic and atmospheric as they are on record, building up some captivating grooves by way of neck-snapping, killer riffing, and a whirlwind of instrumental wizardry (pairing odd time signatures with plenty of tempo changes), hair-raising hooks, spooky passages and relentless power that draws the audience in. It's always an exciting show.

The Netherlands has been long overdue for a band to put the lowlands back on the international instru-metal map. We're thrilled to see TANK86 rise to the occasion!

End of year update

Heya folks! 2011 has been a heavy year. We released Rise and are stoked about the great response to it worldwide. We gigged our asses off and had an awesome time. A big cheers to all you guys for your support!

So what are we up to in 2012?
We've recorded a brand new track and it is currently being mastered at Tower Studios in France. We will release the track on a limited 7-inch vinyl split with our heavy Belgian brothers Sardonis. It will see the light of day early next year.

A tour through Germany and Belgium is in the works. It's too early to go into details, but things are looking awesome. More info in a month or so.

January brings a couple of uniquely cool shows:
- An all-instrumental night @ Lakei Helmond, with Long Distance Calling (DE), Atlantis and Sardonis.
- A heavy night in Elektra Sliedrecht with Izah
- The mighty Mudgate Festival in Azijnfabriek Roermond, with Mars Red Sky (FR), Electric Moon (DE), Year of no light (FR), and many awesome others.

See you next year and stay heavy you bastards!
